KVK Tax Category Checker

Compare two financial years against the official KVK thresholds. Your indicative class - micro, small, medium or large - appears instantly, with the criteria behind it.

KVK determines your company's size class by testing total assets, net turnover and average number of employees against fixed thresholds, then requires at least 2 of the 3 conditions to be met in at least 2 consecutive financial years before a class is confirmed. Enter your current and previous year figures below to get an indicative result.

Before Filing · Important Context

A clear answer, with the caveats visible.

Two-year rule
KVK confirms a class only once a company meets at least two of the three conditions during at least two consecutive financial years. If the annual classes differ between years, this calculator flags the result for review instead of forcing a final class.
Turnover publication note
As checked on 20 August 2026, KVK's filing table shows the Large turnover threshold as above €50 million, while another KVK business-class page displays above €51 million. This calculator follows the filing table's €50 million logic.
Legal and accounting scope
Group structures, first-year accounts, transitions, specific reporting frameworks and other statutory rules can change the applicable classification or filing requirements. Treat this result as an indication, not filing advice.

FAQ

Calculator questions, answered.

KVK assesses total assets, net turnover and average number of employees against fixed thresholds. A company belongs to a class when it meets at least two of the three conditions during at least two consecutive financial years.

Micro: assets under €450,000, turnover under €900,000, fewer than 10 employees. Small: up to €7.5m assets, €15m turnover, 50 employees. Medium: up to €25m assets, €50m turnover, 250 employees. Large: above those limits.

Company size determines which disclosures are required in your annual accounts, whether an auditor's statement is needed, and from FY2025 onward, whether iXBRL filing is mandatory rather than optional.

No. It is an indicative assessment based on a simplified two-year test. Group structures, first-year accounts, transitions and other statutory rules can affect the applicable classification, so results should be verified against current KVK guidance.

KVK's two-year rule requires the same class in two consecutive years before it is confirmed. If the years disagree, treat the result as provisional and review it with an adviser.
