XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) is a global standard for tagging financial data so it can be read by both humans and software. The Netherlands requires it for KVK annual accounts, SBR-tax returns, and (for listed companies) ESEF Annual Financial Reports, to make regulatory filings consistent, machine-readable, and faster to process.
Most companies need KVK annual-accounts filing (a legal obligation for nearly all BVs, NVs and cooperatives) and, if liable for corporate income tax, SBR-tax filing too. ESEF only applies if your company's securities are listed on Euronext Amsterdam's regulated market. Many companies are in scope for more than one.
